About Us

What is the Crime Solvers program?

Fairfax City Crime Solvers is a community initiated program involving businesses, citizens, news media, and the Fairfax City/George Mason University Police Departments coordinating together to fight crime. Our Board of Directors is comprised of business leaders, police, and area residents who offer cash rewards for information leading to the arrest and indictment of persons who commit crimes in the Fairfax City/George Mason University area.

We are a community non-profit organization. Fairfax City/GMU Crime Solvers is not run by the Fairfax City Police Department.

How does Crime Solvers work?

If you have knowledge of a crime, you can call the tip line or submit an anonymous tip via our contact form. Those who submit tips are not required to give their names or phone numbers, and will never have to appear in court. When a tip is received, you will be provided with a Tip ID. That ID number will be used as the only identifiable record and will be used if a reward is paid to the tipster.

If the information provided to us results in an arrest, indictment, seizure of stolen property, or apprehension of a fugitive, a cash reward up to $1000 will be paid to the tipster.

Where does the reward money come from?

As a non-profit, Fairfax City/GMU Crime Solvers relies solely on donations from local businesses and private residents. No public tax money is used. Fairfax City/GMU Crime Solvers depends on your support and funding to help us fight crime!

Does the Crime Solvers program help stop crime?

Absolutely! Since the program began in October 1979, information received through Crime Solvers has led to the arrest of more than 1,900 criminals, including over 200 fugitives. Tips received have resulted in the closure of thousands of crimes, which include murders, rapes, robberies and burglaries. More than $240,000 in cash rewards has been paid out since our program’s inception.
